Privacy Policy

What Jamket collects, why, who helps us run the service, and the choices you have. We wrote it for teachers, students and families, so it says plainly what happens to your information.

Who we are

Jamket is an independent education service. This policy covers the Jamket website and web app, its installable app version and browser extension. “We” and “us” mean the operator of Jamket. Questions about this policy go to our contact form.

What we collect

  • Account details. When you sign in with Google, Microsoft or a one-time email link, we receive your name, email address and, if your provider shares one, a link to your profile picture. We never ask for or receive your passwords.
  • Your role and age confirmation. The role you choose (teacher, student, learning on your own, or converting sets) and the age confirmation that role needs.
  • What you create. Sets and their questions, answers and images, folders, classes, assignments, and the earlier versions of each set your plan keeps.
  • Learning activity. For signed-in students: class membership, assignment attempts and answers, and study progress used to schedule review. For live games: the nickname each player picks, their answers and scores.
  • Connections. If you allow Google Forms or Sheets, the access tokens Google gives us, stored encrypted.
  • Billing records. For Teacher Pro: your Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, plan, renewal and trial dates, refund requests with the reason and any feedback you give, and a keyed one-way fingerprint of your email that records you have used the free trial. Card details go straight to Stripe and never reach us.
  • Messages to us. What you send through the contact form: your name, email, school and role if you give them, and your message.
  • Technical data. Sign-in cookies, your IP address (used briefly for rate limits and bot protection, never stored with your account), and operational events described under Operational data.

What stays in your browser

Converting between platforms, editing and exporting happen on your device. The file or text you import is not uploaded just to convert it. Your browser keeps a working copy so you can pick up after a reload, plus display choices such as Lite Mode. Clearing this site’s data in your browser removes them.

If you paste a public link from a supported platform, our server fetches that one page and hands it back to your browser. It isn’t saved unless you choose to save the result to your library.

Documents and AI

  1. When you create questions from a PDF or PowerPoint file, your browser reads the file and extracts its text. The file itself never leaves your device.
  2. Only the text needed for the request — split into a limited number of sections (up to 40 on Free and 250 on Teacher Pro) — is sent to Jamket with your settings, such as how many questions you want.
  3. Jamket’s AI processing service, which we operate ourselves, sends that text to Anthropic’s Claude models and returns the questions to you. If Anthropic is unavailable, the request may instead go to a backup AI service with an OpenAI-compatible interface.
  4. The text is deleted as soon as your questions are ready. If a creation fails or you cancel it, the text is deleted after 7 days. Generated questions you haven’t saved are deleted after 7 days. We keep a record of each creation (its status and size, never its text) for 90 days to count your monthly allowance.

We never write document text, questions or answers into logs or metrics. We don’t use your content to train AI models. Please don’t include students’ personal information in documents you send for AI processing.

How we use information

We use information only to:

  • provide Jamket: sign you in, save your work, run games, classes and study;
  • process payments, trials, refunds and the plan limits you’re entitled to;
  • answer your messages and requests;
  • keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and find and fix problems; and
  • meet legal obligations.

We don’t show ads, we don’t sell or rent personal information, we don’t share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we never use student information to market to students or build profiles of them. We email you only about your account, sign-in, billing and replies to your messages.

Who can see what

  • Your library is private to your account unless you use a set in a game or class.
  • In a live game, players see the questions and the nicknames and scores on the leaderboard. The host sees each player’s answers and the session report.
  • In a class, the teacher who owns it sees its members, their assignment results and class reports. Students don’t see each other’s results.
  • Jamket has no public profiles, followers, friend lists, chat or messaging between users. Social features stay inside a game or class.
  • Beyond the service providers below, we share personal information only when the law requires it, to protect someone’s safety, or as part of a transfer of the service to a new operator who keeps this policy’s promises (we’d tell you first).

Service providers

These companies process information on our behalf, only to provide their part of the service:

Service providers that process personal information for Jamket

Google and Microsoft also handle your sign-in under their own privacy policies. Some of these providers process data in the United States and other countries.

Children and age

  • Teacher accounts are for educators aged 18 or older.
  • Accounts for learning on your own or converting sets are for people 13 or older.
  • Children under 13 use Jamket only through a teacher or school, by joining a class their teacher created, or anonymously in a live game with a nickname and no account.

Everyone confirms the age statement for their role when they choose it. If we learn that we have personal information from a child under 13 that didn’t come through a teacher or school, we delete it. Parents and guardians can ask to review or delete their child’s information with our contact form; we may ask the child’s teacher or school to help confirm the request.

Students and schools

When a teacher uses Jamket with a class, student information is used only to provide Jamket to that teacher and school — never for advertising, never sold, and never used to build profiles for any other purpose. Teachers decide which students take part and should share only what the activity needs; live games need nothing more than a nickname.

Students’ assignment attempts and study progress belong to their own account and are deleted when that account is deleted. A teacher can remove a student from a class at any time. Schools and districts that need a data privacy agreement can ask through our Schools page.

Payments

Stripe processes Teacher Pro payments. You enter your card on Stripe’s checkout page, and Jamket never sees or stores your full card number. We receive the plan you chose, its status and dates, and invoice amounts so your account page can show your billing history. Stripe keeps payment records as payment and tax laws require, including after you delete your Jamket account.

Operational data and cookies

To keep Jamket fast and working, we record operational events: which feature was used, whether it worked, how long it took, error types, page-speed measurements, and counts. These events never contain question text, answers, file contents, names, email addresses or card data. Events stored in our database can be linked to your account and are deleted after 90 days. Page-speed measurements and browser error counts are recorded without any account or IP address.

Jamket uses only first-party cookies needed to keep you signed in and to protect the service. There are no advertising cookies, no third-party analytics trackers, and no cross-site tracking.

How long we keep data

We keep your account and content until you delete them. Temporary data is deleted automatically: sign-in links after 10 minutes, AI text as soon as your questions are ready, live game rooms 2 hours after the game ends, operational events after 90 days, and contact messages after 1 year. Our data retention page lists every kind of data and how long it’s kept.

Security

All traffic to Jamket uses HTTPS. Google access tokens are encrypted before they are stored, library files sit in private storage that only your signed-in requests can reach, and every request is checked against the owner of the data it touches. Sign-in has no passwords to steal. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach that affects your information, we’ll tell you as the law requires. Found a security problem? Please report it with our contact form.

Your choices and rights

  • See and change your details on your account page, including your role.
  • Delete content from your library, clear your export history, or disconnect Google at any time.
  • Delete your account from the account page. This deletes your profile, library, classes you own, reports and connections right away and cancels any subscription.
  • Ask for a copy, a correction or a deletion of personal information, or ask any privacy question, with our contact form. We reply within 30 days and may ask you to confirm the request comes from the account holder.

Depending on where you live, you may have further rights, such as to object to some uses or to complain to a data protection authority. We will never treat you differently for using your privacy rights.

Changes and contact

If we make an important change to this policy, we’ll tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. The “Last updated” date at the top always shows the current version. Reach us any time with our contact form.
